Our backups also take about 9 hours to run. Yes we run other loads during that time (mostly tpumps), but some batch loads. We have split up
the backups to 3 relatively equal jobs (size-wise) to run thruout the day on Saturday. This has allowed us to only have to shutdown the loads for
a shorter amount of time.
