Subj:   Re: Useful Stats for Management

From:   Victor Sokovin

When management shows off the warehouse information they will have the luxury to drill down into the depths of the detail to show the ability to truly solve DW issues quickly. That is the leverage points that I believe the UPPER's are asking for... "Give me something that I can sell to keep us in business!"

I think you captured the trend very well. A few years ago they would not consider "selling" anything. DWH was a must have for any company, it was meant for historical analysis and did not have to be involved in any daily business. As the markets change this DWH philosophy is cracking.

If you look at the reporting in this broader context I think it should provide the means for the business to identify new opportunities. More data mining and really serious statistical analysis should be in place. For some reasons they don't seem to be successful yet. Lack of qualified people, high prices of the software? Perhaps there will be some challenges and opportunities in that area in the years to come.

Regards,

Victor
