Subj:   OBJECT USE COUNT - NoDot0Backdown

Dear esteemed TD gurus,

We're running TD 14.10 in our shop.

On the development machine we have recently activated object use counting. But after a check the field NoDot0Backdown in DBScontrol = FALSE.

Almost 2 years ago, we upgraded van TD13.10 towards our current TD14.10, which has left the parameter to the value FALSE.

From what I've read about this parameter, is that it?s required to activated the TD14.10's new features.

Of course we like to make use of them , but for many of those new features, the parameters is required to be set to TRUE.

But before doing so, I have some questions:

- What are the pitfalls? Any stuff I need to think and take care of before activating the parameter? (According the books, once set, there's no way back.)

- I've read somewhere, that when you do this, you need to recollect ALL statistics of ALL objects on which stats are defined. Basically at our shop that would come down to a conversion of TD14 stats towards TD14.10 stats.

Any suggestions on how to proceed with such a conversion?

Maybe a stupid question, but can old TTU (e.g. TD13.10 / TD14.0) continue to work with that parameter set to TRUE?

Looking forward to all your suggestions/answers.

Best regards
