Hi, DSA backups are based on changed blocks (CBB), this implies that you will be actually backing up more than actually the changed rows but definitely less than a full backup of the objects which are within the scope of your job definition. PPI based tables are more efficient from a CBB perspective as one will normally only update a few partitions which implies that fewer blocks are "touched" from an update perspective (A block cab only contain data from a single Partition, while in a traditional table updates might end up in more or less random blocks). Not really sure about your reliability question; generally speaking I've not seen reliability issues when restoring CBB based backups. Ie your data will be restored assuming it's still readable from secondary storage. Please consult with your favorite Teradata consultant for more details on DSA. Regards Ysbrand
