Another option you might want to consider is Journals for mission critical loads. This allows you to check point and save the journal in place
of the actual database table while it is being loaded to. Also archive strategies can be built for pulling the incremental change records into a
backup database and archiving that in place of the original table. Since the amount of change records would not be as huge, the archive on the
database would also take up less time.
Both the above strategies do require that you have atleast one stop gap where the complete database is archived (probably on a holiday) so that
the incremental changes or the journals can be applied over the same.
