Subj:   Re: Teradata DB account vs. Business Objects Portal
From:   Rob Paller

As I understand it, each universe must have a connection defined for it. If you create a unique userid per universe you will be able to track the usage statistics of each universe and its impact on the data warehouse. Furthermore, you can leverage the accountname or owning database/user for each userid to group them to department which is responsible for or primarily uses that BO Universe.

Trouble is if the universe is used by many departments then you may have a difficult time accounting usage back to department using the data warehouse itself. You may have to combine the metadata information retained by Business Objects in concert with the data on Teradata (DBQL, ResUsage, etc.) to paint a complete picture. This may require you to extract the data from BO's metadata database and load it on to Teradata to facilitate your analysis.

Hope this helps.
