Subj:   Re: Preserving table statistics across table DDL

From:   Chu, Sam

Question:
Is there a clever way to carry over the table statistics from the "old" table to the "new" one without having to recollect them?

I was working with a Balakumar in GAP earlier this year and he was able to use the syntax generated from TSET on stats info in the time when it generate a good plan to re-apply old stats that cause better plan to a new data table with worse plan.

Use TSET to capture the stats info on the old table

Then take the syntax and apply to the new table from queryman.

Word of warning. This is not supported by NCR/TERADATA and if you have problem afterward it would be your responsibility to fix it. I am only sharing my experience and is not encouraging un-official and un-supported method.

Thanks,

Samuel Chu
