Scenario:
We altered the type of a column in a 5 bilion+ row table. The altered column is not used for joins or lookups.

We used the insert-select approach from "current" to "new", renaming "current" table to "old" and "new" table to "current".

Old/new table are same primary index to keep it amp local.

Question:
Is there a clever way to carry over the table statistics from the "old" table to the "new" one without having to recollect them?

The table is only loaded weekly so the stats would still be fresh.
