I do not know much about DB2, but I have been told that in the early days of Teradata the vast majority, if not all of the DBC1012s were
connected to a mainframe and the mainframe normally ran DB2. Therefore, Teradata was written to be DB2 compliant - makes sense. Since BTEQ and
FASTLOAD were normally used to load data from the mainframe, the data normally came from DB2 and they know about null bits, would it not follow in
a logical progression that DB2 load and unload utilities know how to create and interpret the null bits?
Again, I do not know and do not have access to any DB2 documentation to check it out. Could someone look into this and post their
findings?
Thanks,
