Thanks Geoffrey for you history lesson. My previous reasoning came from hearing for so many years that Teradata, in the form of a DBC1012, was originally written to be DB2 compliant (as opposed to UDB2 being a much later innovation). Asking the question has a good thing because now I have heard another perspective. All of my days spent with the IBM mainframes was prior to DB2.
