Subj:   Re: SQL Assistant - multiple query windows

From:   Prabhjot Sodhi

Hi Mike:

The way you wish to have consensus is highly appreciative. Now all those who use the the tool can vote!!! Hope others take a leaf out of this!!

Regarding the availability of multiple query windows, I suppose the question that needs to be answered is whether the developor can actually use the other query windows while the existing query is running. Because if the user cannot access other windows, he still has to open other instances.

The availabilty of multiple query windows decreases the number of instances and with most of the members using old boxes, less amount of cache memory is used (with each decresing instance) and thus the local system response time would be better. (Being a bit selfish!!!)

I have seen developors actually having upto 10 instances, just to write the sql and use the format feature of querman to check that all the brackets and single quotes are present. With multiple windows, that would be an easier approach.

Another suggestion that you might look at is, allowing users to copy the information into the new window while opening it. This would save the hasle of copy paste, even if the query is running. May be I am making it more like microsoft GUI, but not prone to its problems!!!

Also, please explain how the queries are stored from multiple windows in the history file, when the application is closed.

Whatever may be the result, it sure is a great tool!!! Kudos to you and your team!!!

Thanks & Regards,

Pete
