Subj:   SQL Assistant - multiple query windows

From:   Dempsey, Mike

A few customers at Partners asked for multiple query windows in SQL Assistant. (Since many others voted against this feature it would be added as an option that you would have to turn on - not a default.)

For those who requested this feature, please respond to the question at the end of this note.

Multiple query windows can mean different things to different people.

Multiple windows allow comparison and building of queries from different sources (including different history records)

This applies whether or not there are multiple DBS sessions behind these windows.

If there are multiple sessions then more than one query can be execured at the same time. Otherwise you would still be restricted to running one query at a time - even though there were multiple windows.

The application is designed as a single threaded application and therefore allowing multiple sessions would require a complete redesign... so not likely to happen any time soon.

Do you feel that multiple query windows are useful WITHOUT the ability to submit multiple queries at the same time?
