If you want to respond to this note, please do it off-List and not on the TeradataForum. It's one thing to ask questions where you're having a problem with a Teradata-related product and something entirely different when you're sharing experiences or looking for a recommendation. After all, there's no way to ask for a recommendation without putting the responder in the role of a product/service promoter (unless I limit responses to negative comments). For most situations, I equate 'recommendation' with 'promotion'. I prefer not to see recommendations any more than I want to see product/service promotions. After all, if somebody says something negative about a product/service, then I'm put in the situation (in all fairness), where I have to let the product/service provider have equal time to defend their product/service - and I'm not interested in doing that. I want to keep the TeradataForum focused on the core Teradata product and to help people resolve problems that are keeping them from being successful with the Teradata. I realize that this is a sore point with everybody and it definitely hurts the value of the TeradataForum. I'm currently working on some changes which I hope will address this stumbling block and I plan to have them in place in the relatively near future. John Hall
