As Teradata is an ANSI SQL based database (with extensions, of course) aren't there third-party tools that perform this function? I believe
that HP and IBM have provided these types of offerings in the past, as well as a few third party vendors that have addressed this market. I'm not
aware of any successful implementations, so I'd be interested in hearing of any. I wouldn't want to contemplate the response time on a 100,000
row by 200,000,00 million row product JOIN conducted over a TCP/IP based WAN. It may be fine for "two_AMP" tactical queries, though.
