The downfall of Teradata is going to be the very very high cost of the hardware and database software. They bundled their products so you end up buying software you need because now it is "free."

Remember when TSET was supposed to be free with V2R4? They changed their mind and made it a chargeable product after Todd Walter said at the Partners conference that is was going to be part of V2R4.

We're constantly having to justify why we have the hardware. I'm sure as soon as there is a viable alternative, we'll be switching over. I welcome the competition and hope that Netezza does very well.
