As a consultant specializing in high end DSS, I am glad to see Netezza enter the market. The argument of Open vs. Proprietary is really meaningless IF (and that's a big IF), Netezza can deliver significant price performance advantages that allow organizations to view their data in ways never imagined before. Even if their run is short-lived, the pressure on other vendors, including Teradata, to deliver better price performance makes Netezza a valuable entrant into our market space.

I am looking at them as a potential solution for my clients and would recommend every Teradata customer at least give them a look - worst case -you get a better deal from Teradata.
