If you go the chip upgrade root you will have to check that the older disk arrays have the bandwidth to support the faster processors. If
not you will end up I/O limited on these nodes. The I/O requirement will vary with workload mix so on CPU intensive work you will see the
benefit anyway.
If there is a big discrepancy in I/O capacity and you have the space in the array on the faster nodes you may get more throughput adding
VAMPs. Adding the VAMPs will require the data to be redistributed which takes time, your NCR customer services guys have an estimation tool
for this. It all depends on your detailed hardware configuration and the nature of the workload.
