I have no answers to your specific questions, I have the same questions from the other direction. We have a Worldmark 4800, with 5.2 TB
total w/RAID1. We have 4 nodes, 80 AMPs and 16 - 500 MHZ processors and I believe 512 MB RAM/ CPU. We are still on V2R3 and have about 1
TB of raw data.
I am very happy with performance, but as a State agency we are looking at extreme budget restrictions, and to reduce operating costs, may
be force to look at reducing the number of Nodes from 4 to 2. Given that we now are running 320 - 18 GB drives and 36 GB drives are
available, I think 2 Nodes could manage the space needs. My concern is performance from the reduction in number of AMPs.
Could the increased processor speed and additional RAM overcome the loss of performance through a reduced number of VPROCS?
