This is a somewhat open-ended question but the short answer today is that to achieve any meaningful row length savings, the columns you
want to look at in a given table should be the more than a couple of bytes in length and must have some single value that consistently
occurs in the column. To use compression today you have to specify the particular column value that is to be compressed and since you only
get one choice, it needs to be something that show up a significant number of times to achieve any meaningful results. In the future (i.e.
V2R5 or so, you may have other options here)....
