I totally agree with John.
No only does Teradata remove IT from the equation, as much as possible, but business users are not discouraged from refining and
repeating their queries. This iterative capability helps further improve understanding of the business to the point where quality
information can be obtained fairly painlessly to ensure business decisions are made on a sound basis.
'Refine and re-run' query capability, imho, is a very powerful weapon. Poorly performing platforms, and those that don't like ad hoc
queries simply don't lend themselves to this approach.
