Thanks for all the inputs on this Forum. Appreciate your time to clarify this. I shall upgrade the .NET provider and check if it gets resolved as Kaare mentioned. The command time out is actually set to 0 which is indefinite. So the only hope is to see if the upgrade fixes it.
