Subj:   Re: NoPI tables as Staging tables

From:   Tomas GORNER

Hi,

On top of what Dave already said, loading target tables directly with TD loaders can bind your hands later when you try to optimize some queries.

There are restrictions when it comes to loading tables with indexes (especially join indexes an USIs) and recreating them every time may be very consuming. It can actually jeopardize your optimization attempt.

Loading into noPI tables is also faster, because the engine doesn't have to bother with data redistribution and sorting. And faster loading into staging tables means faster release of load tasks, which is a limited resource as well.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Tomas
