Hi,

In my current project, NoPI tables are being used as Staging tables before data is finally loaded to the target/base table. Data is first loaded to this table (via DataStage) and then an INSERT/SELECT is used to move the data from this staging table to the target table.

My question is that why can not the data be loaded directly to the target/base table instead of first loading to the NoPI staging table ? What is the rationale behind this logic ?

I have searched around and have learnt that various projects uses the same logic too of employing a NoPI staging table and loading data to it first (via fastload etc).

Can anyone please shed some light on this topic.
