Thanks for the answers. I suspect you've generated quite a bit of interest in some quarter, Glen, as those of us that have enjoyed the use of Oracle DbLinks would no doubt see the benefit that such an equivalent would bring. As it happens, I've developed an in-house set of Teradata Stored Procedures which can be applied to Production, across a whole set of Tables. ?This I've called 'Data Subsetting', because we're normally interested in bringing small - referentially intact - sets of data down from Production to Test. The solution I have is quite ..... involved. ? The subsetted data itself is copied to CTAS Tables in Production - based upon the particular criteria of extract, such as Country Code in list of values, etc - then we use 'Data Mover' to copy those Tables down to the Test Box. ?From there, I've developed Stored Procedures that dynamically built Update Statements, Insert statements and Delete Statements (taking the possible mismatches in Table Schema between Prod and Test ... so, yes, plenty of going to dbc.columns and the like) then apply the Subsetted Tables to the Target Tables. Thing is, I did all this whilst thinking, 'if I only had a DbLink, it'd be a whole lot easier'. Anyway, any further info from you or others, I'd be first in the queue to read and consider .... thanks. Regards David Clough
