Hi Martin, Yes, I agree with you and the logic also makes sense. There should be a check point to start the backup. Consider, I am taking backup of my entire system (approx. around 10-12TB), how much time does it takes to make/keep this checkpoint for all the databases of my script. So, If I acquire check point/(lock), from then on, databases will be available for WRITE and READ for other users, right? What if a user has already write locked a table/(database), My backup user should wait until the lock is released? My client has a requirement that tables should be available all time as they run the batch loads 24*7. How can we achieve this? Hi Tomas, Yes, Backup is getting blocked due to batch users. Hope, its again like whoever is acquiring the lock first that operation runs first. But, If my backup user acquires lock first and places all the databases in ArchiveLoggingObjsV, then, batch users are able to load those databases/tables without locking. Thanks, Sravan.
