The "Big Data" spectrum includes structured data (the traditional Teradata database), semi-structured data like sensor measurements or weblogs
(what non-technical articles most frequently call Big Data, and where MapReduce technology - including but not limited to Hadoop - is best), and
unstructured data (images, audio, video, etc.).
Teradata (the company) has acquired / partnered with other companies to provide solutions for semi-structured data.
