If your environment does not use the hosts file for Teradata connections then it looks like the system name you are trying to connect with is not in the DNS tables in your network.

Basically, the system name that you specify in a logon string or the odbs dsn etc needs to eitehr be:

- an ip address

- the name of a COP entry in your hosts file

- the name of a COP entry in your dns table.
