Subj:   Re: How to Identify UNUSED STATS on a table?

From:   Bodla, Sravan Kumar

Hi Tomas,

Once again, Thanks for info.

I have decided to drop stats on some of the tables where queries majorly hit, and register stats again based on the necessity.

Hi Forum,

I am under assumption that, explain plan shows "No Confidence" steps only when there are no stats or stale stats.

So, I started collecting stats recommeneded by "Diagnostic helpstats", join columns , (stats on trial and error basis) etc, but there was not much change in the plan and ended up collecting stats on many columns.

But, I still see the plan containing "no confidence" steps and the plan shows for hours and days.

The tables involved in the queries are very small (less than 10GB), but there are product joins.

What can be the other cases where the plan shows no confidence and hours/days of time to complete each step apart from no stats/stale stats.

Thanks,

Sravan
