Teradata does NOT handle access to dictionary tables with a lower priority by default. Any consultant who "confirmed" this doesn't know what he's talking about.

It is true that the ODBC driver, in particular, can be rather inefficient in translating metadata API requests into Teradata SQL.

Perhaps that is what you are experiencing "many times in the past". It's not low priority within the database.
