Hi Dave, Thanks for this response - I searched around in the TD documentation and found something quite similar to what you're saying. There was one line that concerned me a bit though (it was quoted from an academic paper) - regarding thrashing if there are blocks in a DBMS. What interests me is whether any Teradata DBAs out there have experienced a tangible slow down in processing other sessions (unrelated to the block) when one session is blocking another session. The DBA is effectively demanding that we design our entire ETL process because every so often we have blocking sessions and he claims this is slowing down the system for all the other users too. Any feedback would be appreciated! Chaim
