Subj:   MLOAD performance problem

From:   Chaim Sender

Hi there,

I'm loading data from a flat file to a Teradata target using MLOAD as an external loader with Informatica Power center.

The problem is that the performance is really terrible. I'm getting around 400 rows a second.

There are two options available to me - I can stage the loading so that the rows are initially loaded into a flat file and then MLOAD loads that into Teradata or it can load directly to the teradata tables. However I've tried both options and it doesn't seem to help the performance.

What's even more frustrating is that the exact same MLOAD job loading into the same target table but with a different source, runs with 20K rows a second.

The problem is not with the source file read - the data is fully extracted from the source file within seconds.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Chaim
