Hi Rit,

I am not so familiar with Ab Initio, but based on your command it seems that you are collecting Statistics on all columns of your Table. Based on the amount of records and based on the number of columns it could really take a while.

I am not aware if you stated somehow an initial command to collect statistics on this table only on certain columns and column combinations but it is recommendable to do so. Then usually you just can state collect statistics on the table without adding the required Columns. But usually it is not really necessary to collect all of them every day (exception might be a date field which is important for joining and if you use Teradata before V12)

I was working on a project where we used Ab Initio. We handled everything in the way that we loaded the Table every day (about 100 mio records per day) but the collect statistics run only once a week on the weekend and also only on the most important columns and column combiniations. We were writing a Shell script which called a BTQ Script which only contained the collect statistics on the columns we really wanted to have.

I defenitely would recommend to watch the pmon to see whats going on on your system while you collect statistic on this table and also it would be interessting about the size of this table.

Hope this helps.

Joerg
