What is the current thinking around best practice for the generation of surrogate keys on Teradata ?

Its been a couple of years and a couple of versions ago since I?ve had to do it ? I think the last time I was using CSUM and there were some issues around skewing, and the use of CSUM is now being discouraged in favour of ?? ?????
