You can not dedicate nodes to specific applications. Teradata is a parallel database - this means that the data for all your tables is spread across ALL nodes so these nodes must be available to all applications. Adding nodes will usually increase your performance in approximately linear fashion. (unlike most 'clustered' systems.) [Exception would be if your data is very badly skewed, or the system is heavily under-utilized already.] Teradat provides many different monitoring tools - the most common being Teradata Performance Monitor (PMON) and Teradata Manager. Finaly, I hope you dont really mean that your client applications are actually installed on the Teradata nodes. That would almost certainly cause bad (skewed) performance on the system. Mike Dempsey
