I too tend to believe that pure is best and provides a more predictable performance level on Teradata.

However, for the sake of discussion based on the assumption that the co-existence is to increase the number of nodes on the system, therefore more AMPs and each AMP would have less data. With less data on each AMP overall performance is enhanced on each AMP. Then, as long as the new disk space equals the current disk space per AMP - would the system still not be faster than the current configuration and therefore satisfy a SHORT-TERM (capitalized for emphasis) goal, especially if the fastest disks were on the node(s) with the least horsepower?
