Subj:   Requesting "Newbie Help" - What should I pay

From:   Al MacGowan

OK - I think I'm a pretty good all-around person/dba, but I am lacking in the Teradata-specific "maintenance duties/apps", as I'm fairly new to Teradata.

I have a pretty good handle on day-to-day tasks, general planning, etc - but I'm not sure what maintenance items I need to run or pay attention to in Teradata. This is coming up now because I just took an alert on a failed minicylpack. That got me digging into the documentation, and brought up a notice that perhaps I should be running PACKDISK on a fairly regular schedule. Since I'd not been informed of this before, I of course haven't (ever) been running it.

I'm wondering if anyone in this forum might be willing to share a couple of "run this, run that" ideas that keep your life with Teradata a happy one? I'm not looking to leech your cabinet of maintenance scripts, and am willing to research the "how" of the things to run. It's just hard to compile a list of "what" to run without first being slapped in the face by "the next one".

Any input anyone has would be very appreciated!
