Are those requests serial in nature (I need to perform step1 before step2) or can they be performed in parallel. If parallel, can you create
N number of threads server-side (.NET) to improve throughput? If serial in nature, I'd look at MSR's (multi-statement requests) to improve
throughput.
I'd agree with most of the others - Teradata does support mixed workloads very well, especially when data access is tuned and incorporated with
tools such as PSF. We load 24/7, with heavy analytical queries mixed in with single amp tactical queries as well that drive several of our
customer service applications (intra and internet based). I've worked on all DB platforms and while some things may be easier (and that is a
subjective statement) on the "smaller" RDBMS', I have yet to run across a problem that can't be handled by Teradata.
It all starts with an objective: You need to design to meet that objective.
