Clay,
The effect you are observing is not unusual for Teradata systems comprised of nodes of mixed vintage. Generally the performance of the oldest
nodes in such a configuration place a limit on how hard the other or newer nodes may be driven. You may have heard your NCR rep speak of TPERF
ratings when you added or acquired newer nodes. These are basically factors for equating the performance of a new node technology to that of an
earlier one. As I am sure you know, the performance of the storage subsystem is key to the performance of a TD system. In the case of mixed
systems, this is even more so as you may have disk subsystems of different vintages and performance capabilities. All of this factors in to how
the new nodes are configured and carved up into amps as well as what you might see when the system is running from a resusuage perspective. In
short, while the imbalanced metrics you seem to seeing could be caused by some other performance issue, they could be just a reflection of this
very type of thing... Hope this helps... Neil
