Hi Chris,
| There are never enough breadcrumbs in the warehouse to help us understand what the purpose of the warehouse application is within the
system. The CommentString holds 255 characters which are not enough for a good comment about a Database, Entity or Attribute. | |
| ERWIN or other modeling tools offer the functionality to provide a greater depth of documentation but are not easy tools for the masses.
It would be great to be able to create a data dictionary directly from the system, fully commented with simple SQL that could be used as a general
reporting solution. | |
I thought NCR's standard recommendation here would be the MDS (Meta Data Services) but I must admit I have never seen it in action anywhere.
Did you (or anybody else) have a chance to look at it at some point? Promising?
Regards,
Victor
