Subj:   External Authentication

From:   David Clough

I've been asked to look into how Teradata might provide what is apparently called "External Authentication". What we want to be able to do is to have a single sign-on per User (for all our systems) and then for them to be able to access Teradata without having go through the 'internal' Teradata security checks i.e. the User with password approach.

I don't know much about this area (i.e. security), but it does remind me somewhat of the facility that SqlServer has with its tight integration with NT logon Domains.

Does anyone have an idea as to how this might work in Teradata?

As usual, much obliged for any responses of course.
