V2R6.0 only supports encryption in-transit.

Up until 5.1, the only option is to encrypt/decrypt it outside of Teradata (say in the application)

With 5.1, you can use UDF's to do the encrypting and decrypting. However, you either have to write it yourself, get NCR professinal services, or find it in the UDF library.

Jim Browning (NCR) is the expert.

I believe that NCR is working with Protegrity to use Protegrity Encryption. Be prepared to spend bongo bucks.
