Most of the Teradata based reporting uses ROLAP tools like MSI. MSI handles 3NF very well. There are no major set backs when 3NF is used in DM unless the design is really bad. Hierarchal relationships which are based on 3NF go very well with TD and MSI. But one should try to have minimum of 3NF in the model.
