Victor, Correct, I don't want to turn hash joins off for the entire database. I just want to turn them off for a given session. Currently, I know it is possible to turn off certain types of joins for a given session if you issue the appropriate diagnostic statement. However, I don't know if this is possible for Hash Joins. If so, I'm unawarer of the approriate diagnostic syntax. I have a problem query, and I want to know how it would perform if I could force the optimizer to avoid a hash join (which in this case is very skewed and takes a long time to run.) Granted, issuing this sort of diagnostic statement isn't meant for a production solution; however, it helps greatly when diagnosing problem sql. Thanks, Clay
