Subj:   Re: Using TIBCO Software

From:   Victor Sokovin

David,

Anybody had experience in using TIBCO Business Works/Rendezvous software to extract XML and text data from web sites and load it into Teradata? The data will include standard reports from subscription services as well as free-form information available on company web sites. I am particularly interested in problems, limitations or work-arounds that were addressed during implementation.

I've just recently started working with Websphere and TIBCO SmartSockets in the context similar to yours. The latter seems to be close to the products you are interested in or it might even be a part of them in a certain sense. I can only mention now that the software seems to be intuitive and reliable. It is easy to start working with and explore the first couple of queues. As the number of queues to look at keeps growing, I started missing the global overview of them and will have to look for some tools which are available not only to administrators. If somebody here on the list could recommend any, it would be great.

As to the XML - TD part, I think you might want to use a tool. I am using Ab Initio, and it seems to be able to do the job with a number of databases, including TD. Of course, it does a few other jobs as well to justify its price.

If you have any specific questions that I might be able to answer, just contact me by email.

Regards,

Victor
