Subj:   Re: Impact of changing MaxDecimal from 15 to 18

Also note that many query tools can not handle numeric values with more than 15 digits.

We've been doing research:

- Teradata SQL Assistant, Teradata Administrator and MS Excel are limited to DECIMAL(15).

- ODBC is limited (per standard) to DECIMAL(15), which of course constrains products that use it.

- CLIv2 has no described limit, but I expect that it's DECIMAL(18) to support the system.

- Everything else (MS Access, OLEDB, JDBC, Visual Basic) has a limit of DECIMAL(28).

So I guess that means we need to ask Mike when Teradata is going to convert the NCR desktop products from ODBC to OLEDB... ;)
