I have been informed by our network team that the WAN between our Teradata Unix servers and our user site is 100mb full duplex Ethernet. We
have an Ethernet switch in front of the servers that has a 10/100mb selection for the line, but the ports that connect the 4 NODES are all
10mb.
Questions: would changing the hardware switch so the Teradata ports are 100mb instead of 10mb "noticeably" improve transmission between the
server and users? Is 10mb adequate for data response? Some of the downloads currently take hours. We are a DSS shop so simultaneous downloads
of large responses is possible.
Question: Our servers are set for half duplex. Would changing to full duplex make any "noticeable" difference?
We have ESCON between our mainframe and TD which is used for probably 90% of the data loads / table maintenance.
