I don't have experience on very large systems, but I've been the the low hundreds of amps. My testing to try to find the sweet spot found it to be between 16 and 32 sessions, although there was not a lot of difference between those. Over 32 had very little value in my experience.

Those are the two settings I consider for mload and fload, and I nearly always use 16.
