At my company, Teradata SSR's handle installing all maintenance release's, upgrades to MP-RAS UNIX software, Teradata Database Software, etc. Even during minor/major upgrades they are resposible for upgrading the Teradata Database Software to whatever release. They only thing my company employee's do is the TDP (Mainframe) software upgrades. I have always been under the impression that this is just how it is done and the customer doesn't have the option of installing the Teradata software or any dealings with the UNIX MP-RAS software at their own site. Is this the case or do some of the customers handle installing any and all software themselves. I actually prefer NCR continue to do it, but my company is looking to save cost on Maintenance.
