We have a single database containing views for each table in other databases. The database with views is used to allow users access during
loading periods (ACCESS locking) and to help during changes on the underlying tables.
We handle user/group security levels in our BI tool (MicroStrategy) which allow us to create objects called Security Filters. This filters are
added to the where conditions of the reports automatically, restricting the rows a user/group can see. Of course, this approach will not work if
your users can use a different query tool and bypass the BI tool security mechanisms.
