Subj:   Re: Fast Export Checkpoint

From:   Victor Sokovin

Geoffrey,

I haven't tried to use checkpointing in a FastExport, but it seems that ordinarily you wouldn't need it. Since you are exporting data, no updates are happening in the database, so why take checkpoints? If you want to take one after every so many records in your output file, you could do so in an OUTMOD.

I believe the original poster is referring to the feature which I find in, for example, FastExport Reference (B035-2410-122A) on pp 2-48 and 2-49. I was wondering whether the OP was aware of this example and, if so, what was wrong with it.

If the feature works as expected it might save time with restarts of massive export jobs.

Regards,

Victor
